HEARD African Dance Workshop & Concert: Friday, 2/9; 3:30 p.m. Workshop; 7:30 p.m. Concert; Anderson Theater, Anderson Center
Enjoy a marvelous music and dance ensemble who blends jazz with influences from West Africa, the Caribbean, and South America. The workshop and concert are sponsored by the Music Department with support from the Foreman Institute of Creative and Performing Arts.
Douglass Day Transcribe-a-thon: Wednesday, 2/14; 12 p.m.-3 p.m.
Join us in the Writing Center (Clark Hall 230) for Douglass Day, an annual recognition of Frederick Douglass’s birthday and celebration of Black history. Hosted by the Writing Center, we’ll join other Douglass Day partners to transcribe the correspondence of Frederick Douglass.
Bring your laptop or use one of our computers to access the Frederick Douglass Papers.

An Evening with Minnijean Brown-Trickey
Hartwick College and SUNY Oneonta partnered to offer an evening with Minnijean Brown-Trickey.
As a member of the Little Rock Nine, Minnijean changed history by striding through the front doors of Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas helping desegregate public schools, and alter the course of education in America. Since then, she has dedicated her life to social justice as an award-winning teacher, writer, and community worker.

Hartwick College and SUNY Oneonta partnered for a commemorative breakfast to honor the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The event included:
- A keynote address from Dr. Jelani Cobb included his reflections on the legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
- A panel discussion.
- A follow-up discussion with Dr. Cobb for students and faculty.
