After a year of meetings, reviews and conversations with faculty, staff and students, the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Strategic Plan 2024-2027 is ready.
Developed over the last year, the DEIB Strategic Plan not only sets actionable goals and metrics for the College to measure those achievements but also honors the work already happening at Hartwick.
The committee was charged by former President Darren Reisberg and fourteen members of faculty and staff were charged in three sub-committees: Community and Partnerships, Teaching and Learning, and Campus Environment.
“This plan represents a comprehensive and collective effort by our whole community,” said Tessa Yang, associate professor and committee co-chair.
Included in the plan are goals such as a formal land acknowledgment, more volunteer participation, increasing faculty and staff from underrepresented groups, and bringing minority-owned businesses to networking events.
The plan was finalized over the summer and aims to have each goal met by the end of 2027.
“This plan doesn’t look like any other college campus’ plan,” said Richardson. “It’s what we want. It’s strategic, focusing on achieving our goals of being a diverse and equitable campus.”
