Future Hawks Take Flight at Accepted Students' Day

Energy and enthusiasm swept Oyaron Hill on April 6 as Hartwick College welcomed close to 200 accepted students and 300 guests for a vibrant Accepted Students’ Day. With nearly 500 visitors, it was the largest turnout for the event in a decade.

Throughout the day, guests explored academic offerings, toured residence halls and the campus, and joined guided hikes on the Table Rock Trails. The centerpiece of the day, the Celebration Fair, created a relaxed, festive atmosphere where families could meet staff, connect with student clubs, and enjoy games and cotton candy.

Bryan Gross, vice president for enrollment management and athletics, reflected on the experience.

“This year’s Accepted Students’ Day was a huge success thanks to the energy, pride and partnership of our entire campus community,” Gross said. “From faculty to staff and student leaders, everyone helped create a warm, welcoming experience that felt uniquely Hartwick. Events like this show future students what it means to be part of The Life Balance College—where learning, living and growing all go hand in hand. That feeling of connection makes all the difference.”

The financial aid team also played a key role in the day’s success, holding more than 50 one-on-one appointments to guide families through the investment process and their path forward. Many conversations included Hartwick’s new transparent tuition model, which goes into effect in fall 2025 and reflects the College’s commitment to affordability.

“We heard from many parents who appreciated the simplicity and honesty of our new tuition model. Families told us it was refreshing to see a college move away from inflated pricing and confusing discounts. They want to understand the real cost and the real value—and that’s exactly what we’re delivering.”

Hartwick is currently tracking 30% ahead of last year’s deposit numbers, reflecting strong interest and growing momentum.

For accepted student Valerie Dorr of Rocky Point, N.Y., a nursing major, the day solidified her choice.

“My favorite part of the event was attending all the nursing sessions and seeing all the nursing simulation labs, which were really cool,” said Door. “And this day allowed me to see more and more of this campus, which is my favorite out of the many I have seen.”

Hartwick will host two more Accepted Students’ Discovery Days—April 14 and 25—continuing the College’s momentum and commitment to connecting future Hawks with their new home.
