Technology has evolved, but Hartwick students have always known—then and now—how to enjoy the natural beauty of Hartwick and still get their work done. These photos, from 1993, show a student working on his laptop – then called a “notebook computer.” But no Google searches, YouTube or games. These laptops only ran the most basic programs, like spreadsheets and word processing software.
By 1992, email had become a part of campus life and this mid-90s flier from the Technology Service Center (now the Technology Resource Center) is testament to their role in helping students learn how to access this new tool – their Outlook electronic mail accounts.
The Paul F. Cooper, Jr. College Archives was officially established in 1973 and exists primarily to collect and preserve materials that reflect the biography of John Christopher Hartwick and the educational institutions bearing his name – Hartwick Seminary, Hartwick Academy and Hartwick College.
