Harry Morton '18

Major: Computer Science, Business Administration
Hometown: Napier, New Zealand
Current Job: Co-founder of Albi, a food waste management company

What I Do Now: As the co-founder of Albi, I educate people on college campuses about how they can minimize their food waste and how that can help the environment.

How the Hartwick Experience Impacted My Professional Life: Being a Baker-Simpson Fellow changed my life. I didn’t know what I wanted to do after college, but getting to network directly with the founders of Windfall during the Silicon Valley trip helped me land a job there. I could never have done that or founded Albi without the investment of my professors and alumni.

Challenges in the Field: Food waste is a massive inefficiency that should never exist. We’re driven by habits and culture, so sometimes it’s difficult to make people, especially college kids, aware of how much food they waste on average.

My Favorite Aspect of My Career: I love working for myself, being able to move freely and try new things for my company. I can look at problems people are really concerned about and experiment to create new solutions to those problems.

My Advice for Current Students: So many alumni want to help students get the most out of their Hartwick experience because it was such a special place to them. People want to help you get to these really fun and interesting experiences, so you should make the most of those connections.
