William Kowalczyk
Assistant Professor of Psychology and Department Chair
Dr. Kowalczyk has over 15 years of experience studying substance use and related disorders. His work has spanned animal and human laboratory models as well as clinical trials for psychotherapy and medications. Most recently he worked at the National Institute on Drug Abuse examining medications for treating opioid dependence, mHealth applications for substance use, and the relationship between the physical environment and substance use. Dr. Kowalczyk was the recipient of an NIH National Research Service Award grant, the NIH’s Intramural AIDS Research Fellowship Award, and NIDA’s Postdoctoral Mentorship Award. Dr. Kowalczyk has over 15 years of experience studying substance use and related disorders. Dr. Kowalczyk’s first project at Hartwick College will examine the relationships between binge drinking, school stress, risk behavior, and academic performance.
