Hartwick to Host Screening of Film on Climate Change
Hartwick College will host an Earth Day screening of the award-winning 2015 documentary “Tomorrow.” Directed by French actress Mélanie Laurent and civic activist Cyril Dion, the film offers a look at climate change, politics, and grassroots efforts seeking to affect change.
The screening will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday, April 22 in Shineman Chapel House on the College campus. It is free and open to the public.
The film made a major splash in Europe, winning the Best Documentary award at the Cesar Awards (the French Oscars).
“’Tomorrow’ is a hugely positive, affirming and inspirational film,” according to the film’s website. “The filmmakers visit permaculture farms, urban agriculture, community-owned renewable projects, and creative schools in different parts of the world to offer concrete solutions, to take action and to make a difference. The film has been a huge boost to community-led projects and regularly receives standing ovations, leading to the creation of many new community actions. It is the perfect antidote to the current sense of global despondency.”
A New York Times “Critic Pick,” the film has been called “…absolutely the best and most creative film on the future of humanity and the environment.”
Professor of French and Chair of the Modern Languages Department Dr. Mark Wolff organized the screening.
