New Student Orientation:
We were delighted to welcome many of our new students to campus  during the June New Student Orientation programs!

New students who were waived from the June program will attend Orientation on Wednesday, August 27, which is the day before the start of Welcome Weekend. Please see the following schedule for more details. Residential students will have the opportunity to move belongings into their residence hall room prior to the start of the program.

Orientation Overview:
At Hartwick College, we make sure you do more so you can be more, and New Student Orientation is an important first step in that personalized journey. During this program, you'll be officially welcomed to the Hartwick community as an important member of the student body.  You will learn more about your new community and begin forming connections with other students, faculty, and staff that serve as the foundation for a successful transition to Hartwick.

During New Student Orientation you will complete both the Writing Placement and Mathematics Placement exams. Because we believe in a personalized approach in the academic planning process, we offer our placement exams on-site, rather than online. Scores from these exams are an important element in the course registration process and ensure that you are placed appropriately, in courses that are suitably challenging yet not unreasonably ambitious.  If you require testing accommodations during the placement exams, contact the Coordinator of AccessAbility Services to discuss this request at least one week prior to the exam. (Accommodations can be requested only by the student; the student must state his/her orientation date and the accommodation need).

At Hartwick, academic planning is an individualized process designed to meet the unique needs, strengths, and goals of each student. That process begins right away with New Student Orientation, and will continue during Welcome Weekend and throughout your time at Hartwick. We look forward to working with you for the next 3-4 years as you achieve success here at Hartwick College.
